Hey Jason Windows Media Recorder(WMR) is a great program, but honestly, its main purpose is NOT recording flash but other video/audio formats, though it DOES record flash like youtube, etc, some swf files will NOT be recordable by it. If you want to give me the URL, I can take a look at it and let you know if it's recordable or not, if NOT I can of course test it myself and recomend some software that WILL work for you Let me know. Well, VHI and MTV.Com for example, I USED to be able to record the video's on there, but I think sometime around new-years, something changed or broke or something, and now i'm not able to....any ideas?
Thanks

Ahhh Yes they DID, Vh1 and MTV changed theirs over new years... In fact, on the audio side of things, yahoo music changed as well Yahoo Music has been recordable since the release of WM Recorder, but all of a sudden the site started having problems. Apparently, Yahoo JUST switched their protocols from MMS to RTMP literally overnight about 1 1/2 months ago. I spoke with Alex (The programmer for WM Recorder) and it's going to him maybe a few weeks or less to add the RTMP ability. If you're interested in recording this content NOW, I did try recording VH1, MTV AND Yahoo Music with Replay Media Catcher and I was able to record multiple yahoo feeds with no problem. Check it out, and download the FREE demo from the following URL: http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/index.phpHope this helps! MediaGuru

Good news Jason WMR 12.1 was JUST released with a few cool new features, including better RTMP recording function. WMR changes: Added Flash/RTMP support (not complete but addresses most of WMR users requests - video.msn.com, VH1/MTV music videos, NBC / Hulu Fox full episodes, National Geographics, History Channel and more) WM Converter changes: Added "Default" mode that optimizes quality of converted files. Added more conversion capabilities (DivX, DVD) Added more conversion options (video speed & audio volume settings) Faster conversion times and improved video / audio synchronization Check it out for FREE here: WM RecorderAnd of course, Replay Media Catcher is still a great program, and can record a bit more flash than WMR, BUT WMR is able to record Windows Meida files and Real Player files as well... Food for thought :) Download a free trial of the NEW WM Recorder now! MG

Just an update on this stuff. With the release of the NEW flash version, WM Recorder is now NO longer able to record vhi, mtv.com, or yahoo videos. I'm been TOLD that will be fixed in a week or so, but as of NOW, Replay Media Catcher is the ONLY program that can record from sites such as that. Stay Tuned for more. Media Guro
